A Character Curriculum for Alternative Education
Our research suggests that we see the most gains in students who are taking this curriculum at an alternative school. We hypothesize that it has more to do with small classroom size and the notion that “alternative” students have more room to improve emotionally and intellectually than “regular” students in a middle or high school. Some require this course for graduation, others require it to students during their first semester at the school. Either way, it is a proactive way to address the issues that got them there in the first place and to provide them with skills, knowledge and a paradigm shift that will change their lives for the better.
